Watchmaker's precision tools

Why Welaxin

What Makes the Difference at a Watchmaker's Bench

There are many places in Bangkok that claim to service watches. What distinguishes a careful workshop from a quick-fix counter is not always visible from the outside. Here is what we do differently.

Our Advantages

Six Reasons Clients Choose Welaxin

Specialised Expertise

We work exclusively on mechanical movements. This is not a sideline to watch sales or battery replacements — it is the whole of what we do. Fifteen years of focused practice shows in the quality of the work.

Written Service Records

Every watch leaves with a handwritten note describing what was found, what was done, and what to watch for. This record accompanies the piece through its life — valuable when selling, inheriting, or planning the next service.

Honest, Fixed Pricing

Our three service prices are stated clearly. No hidden fees are added after the watch is opened. If we discover something beyond the agreed scope, we stop and discuss it with you before proceeding.

Period Parts Sourcing

For vintage calibres, we prefer to source components from period stock rather than substituting modern equivalents. This takes longer and costs more effort, but it preserves the watch's integrity and collector value.

Milestone Updates

For restoration and overhaul work, we photograph the movement at key stages and share these with you. You see exactly what was found when the watch was opened, and what it looks like reassembled.

No Obligation Assessment

Bring your watch and we will examine it at no cost and with no pressure. If the work required is beyond the watch's value, we will tell you so. The conversation is free.

Equipment at the Bench

  • Ultrasonic cleaning unit with watchmaker-grade solutions
  • Timing machine for rate and amplitude verification
  • Watchmaker's lathe for pivot dressing
  • Calibre-specific lubricant library from established suppliers
  • Reference library of technical drawings and part numbers

Tools & Process

The Right Equipment, Used Correctly

A movement service performed without an ultrasonic cleaning unit relies on hand cleaning alone — effective for visible surfaces but inadequate for jewels and fine tolerances. Our equipment matches the demands of the work rather than being selected for economy.

Pricing

What You See Is What You Pay

Our three service tiers — Movement Service (฿4,200), Vintage Overhaul (฿9,400), and Case & Dial Restoration (฿14,400) — represent the complete cost for standard work. We will tell you which is appropriate and confirm the figure before beginning. No surprises.

In the event of a complication, a damaged part, or a calibre that requires sourcing, we contact you to discuss options. Proceeding is always your choice.

Movement Service & Cleaning ฿4,200
Vintage Movement Overhaul ฿9,400
Complete Case & Dial Restoration ฿14,400

All prices include return of watch with written service note. No additional charges without prior agreement.

What Sets Us Apart

Things You Will Not Find Elsewhere

The Bench Note

Every watch returned from Welaxin carries a handwritten note describing the condition found on arrival, the work performed, and any observations relevant to the owner. This is not a printed receipt — it is a genuine technician's record that can be filed with the watch for its lifetime.

Before & After Documentation

For vintage overhaul and full restoration work, we photograph the disassembled movement before cleaning and again after reassembly. Two static plates showing where the watch was and where it is now — no guesswork about what was done.

Originality Consultation

Before any case work, we discuss with the owner whether polishing or refinishing is appropriate. For some watches — particularly those with collector value — the honest advice is to leave the case as it is. We are not in the business of making decisions that belong to you.

Workshop You Can Visit

The workshop is on Charoen Krung Road and is open to visitors Monday through Saturday. You can bring your watch, sit down, and describe what you have noticed. There is no appointment required for an initial conversation.
